On the occasion of the thousandth anniversary of the founding of the state, the Parliament of the Republic of Hungary created Act I of 2000 on the memory of the founding of the state of St. Stephen and the Holy Crown. The millennium ran from January 1, 2000 to August 20, 2001. During the millennium celebrations, the early Christian tombs of Pécs were declared a World Heritage Site, the reconstruction of the castle of Esztergom, the construction of the Mária Valéria bridge connecting Esztergom and Sturovo and the construction and handover of the National Theater began.
Obverse: The obverse of the banknote is decorated with the Holy Crown, a symbol of Hungarian statehood.
Reverse: The reverse of the banknote shows a detail of Gyula Benczúr's painting The Baptism of Butter.
